Bisan Center for Research and Development participated in the Sixth International Scientific Conference on Olives in Palestine, organized by Palestine Technical University – Kadoorie, at its main campus in Tulkarm, on November 24-25, 2025. The Center's participation included presenting a scientific paper titled "The Negative Environmental Impact of Quarries on Olive Trees, Water Quality, and Soil Fertility", a research paper titled "The Economic Feasibility of Organic Agriculture”, and a film about organic agriculture.

The Executive Director of Bisan Center, Ubai Al-Aboudi, also participated in a panel discussion on the first day of the conference, addressing the promotion of organic agriculture in light of the current chemical interventions in the agricultural sector, including olives, which have negatively impacted the quality of olive oil. He emphasized that olives are a fundamental component of Palestinian agricultural development for two reasons: an economic and developmental reason, as olives constitute a vital resource in the Palestinian economy; and a cultural and intangible reason, due to the significance and symbolism of the olive tree in Palestinian culture.

Al-Aboudi expressed his hope for a renewed focus on the olive sector as a historical and fundamental element of Palestinian culture, linking it to international developments related to environmentally friendly agricultural practices and conservation, and exploring the intersections between the university, Bisan Center, and various associations, while directing research towards Palestinian development needs.

For his part, Dr. Basel Al-Natsha, Associate Professor - Department of Environment and Sustainable Agriculture at Kadoorie University, explained that the sixth edition of the conference, held by Kadoorie University every three years since 2012, focused on the suffering of olive farmers and harvesters, represented by settler attacks and restrictions. The conference included an exhibition where associations and individuals showcased their olive oil products. He emphasized that the conference's objective this year was to amplify the voice of the Palestinian farmer with the support of all partner entities, whether governmental, local, or civil society, including Bisan Center. He stressed the vital importance of the olive sector to Palestinian farmers and the many Palestinian families who depend on olives and olive oil for their livelihood.
